The unusual surname Eno, long established in Suffolk, is thought to derive from the French Huguenot surname Hainault. Roger born and Arlette born John le Baptiste de la Salle. Joseph’s College teacher and painter Tom Phillips encouraged him, recalling"Piano Tennis” with Eno, in which, after collecting pianos, they stripped and aligned them in a hall, striking them with tennis balls. From that collaboration, he became involved in Cornelius Cardew ‘s Scratch Orchestra.

Music that has still never found official release. It might not be the best music done by these artists, but it’s pretty good, and quite historically important. Will it ever come out? And since this list was first composed and put up on this site, one item’s actually been released P. Sloan’s mid s demos , with the long-awaited Buffalo Springfield box set scheduled for release in July, and rumors of unreleased Nick Drake hitting the shops soon. And Neil Young has been promising so many unreleased early solo goodies on his archival box set for so long that their actual appearance would be an anti-climax!

This would probably head many lists of the most important unreleased music of any kind, period. Sometimes referred to as a missing Buffalo Springfield album from , that’s really not quite accurate, although a sleeve bearing this title was printed and not used. Actually, the Buffalo Springfield bootlegs bearing this name feature a variety of studio outtakes, all good and some great including some alternate versions and solo acoustic demos , laid down by the band in These are in turn usually augmented by a few fair-fidelity but enjoyable live tracks, done during one of the periods when Neil Young was not in the band.

Robbie Cube I think Chris Spedding’s Sharks were the first up, but that was a long time ago, and my memories of that night may have been somewhat I think Aerosmith came on second, touring on"Get Your Wings” – they were already gaining some noteriety, while Sharks never made much of a dent in the US market, and by this point Andy Fraser had already left the band, replaced by one Buster Cherry Jones I will assume that wasn’t his given name!

From what I’ve read, The Sharks broke up in early , with singer Snips joining Baker-Gurvitz Army, and guitarist Chris Spedding puting out solo albums and getting involved in both the punk and rockabilly movements.

In early Ferry had auditioned as lead singer for King Crimson , who were seeking a replacement for Greg Lake.

Although Robert Fripp and Pete Sinfield decided that Ferry’s voice was unsuitable for King Crimson’s material, they were impressed with his talent and helped the fledgling Roxy Music to obtain a contract with E. Andy Mackay replied to Ferry’s advertisement, not as a keyboard player but a saxophonist and oboist, though he did have a VCS3 synthesizer.

Mackay had already met Brian Eno during university days, as both were interested in avant-garde and electronic music. Although Eno was a non-musician, he could operate a synthesizer and owned a Revox reel-to-reel tape machine, so Mackay convinced him to join the band as a technical adviser. Before long Eno was an official member of the group. Rounding out the original sextet were guitarist Roger Bunn who had issued the well-regarded solo album Piece Of Mind earlier in [16] and[16]mmer Dexter Lloyd, a classically trained timpanist.

The group’s name was partly an homage to the titles of old cinemas [17] and[17]ce halls , and partly a pun on the word rock. Roxy played live through , and recorded a demo tape of some early compositions. In the spring of ’71, Lloyd left the band, and an advertisement was placed in Melody Maker saying “wonder drummer wanted for an avant rock group”. Bunn left the group at the end of the summer of , and in October, Roxy advertised in Melody Maker seeking the “Perfect Guitarist”.

Although he did not initially make the band as a guitarist, the group were impressed enough with Manzanera that he was invited to become Roxy Music’s roadie, an offer which he accepted. The band’s fortunes were greatly increased by the support of broadcaster John Peel and Melody Maker journalist Richard Williams.

Hello from Atlanta, Georgia. Are you ready for a long post? Like you, I am a musician with severe hyperacusis and manageable tinnitus. It is helping me, as it has helped others. I have not had a serious setback in quite a while and I am consistently improving my tolerance to sound. Although they are in far shorter supply than we would hope for, there are otologists and audiologists with experience in diagnosing and treating hyperacusis, and you should make every effort to find one.

Serious musicians use their ears in ways that non-musicians do not, and the prospect of not being able to rely on one’s ears to do what we feel we are meant to do is, in my view, an added disadvantage to this particular challenge.

There is a learning curve with all of these packages-BIAB being the most complicated but your end results will sound more natural. I like Jammer as a stating point-but these packages work in a MIDI framework, so there is still a steep learning curve if you have no background. The best resource is was it’s down right now, but should be up soon- but there are lots of other resources for raw material.

With ACID, you just drop a loop into a track and “paint” a line with the loop in the track- changing keys, setting differnt pitches, etc is very very simple. But my REAL advice is to get a cheap personal keyboard or a cheap acoustic guitar and a book of chords-start learning basic chords!!! By simply being able to say “Hey my new song is G-D-C-G” to your bandmates, you will get much better results and you will be more productive, creative, and valuable to future projects.

The participants were instructed to click on the mouse when the box vibrated, when they heard a sound from the speakers in front of them or when both things happened at once.

The stimulations were done times each. As hypothesized, the musicians had significantly faster reaction times to non-musical auditory, tactile and multisensory stimuli than the non-musicians.
